Foreclosed

This is a project that I have had in mind since I was working on industrial areas last Autumn. I had recently taken some images for it and likewise debuted them in the last critique. Here are the images, as well as two I have prepared for next critique.

Closed Storefronts, Critiques 1 & 2

For those still uninformed, I did end up choosing closed storefronts for this semester's project. It has been working very well thus far. Here are the images I selected for the first two critiques.

Originally, this project was going to be in B&W. After some shooting I soon realized that the colors in these storefronts are mush more interesting than other subjects I've shot before, such as industrial areas. As I've mentioned many times in class, the people who make the storefronts put more emphasis on color to tickle the senses and have you buy things.

However, as the diehard B&W fan that I am, some images will continue to be in B&W for the duration of this semester's project.

Discovery

Last night, me and my mother went to Hollywood Beach to see if we could view the shuttle launch at 11:59. The conditions were awful; the air was unusually still and extremely humid, and the bugs were everywhere. We ended up getting hundreds of bites from mosquitoes and biting flies. It was worth it though; albeit with some cloud-cover, we saw the rocket about 5 minutes after launch, and I ended up getting an image right after I was taking my tripod down in disgust. Then we got doughnuts at Krispy Kreme in celebration of the successful launch.

The Lake Where Someone Died

A few days ago, a teen drowned in one of the lakes at Amelia Earhart Park. Since then, I've been asking my mother to take me there to shoot and survey the feeling of the place. Tonight, I finally got to go. Here are the images I got.

Places of Worship

I had lost nearly all of the prints I made last Spring for my theme Places of Worship, and I've been going to the lab periodically to replace some of them for the displays I've coming up. Here are scans of the prints I've made so far. I'm going to be displaying these prints and a lot of other work at FIU North Campus Library come the Fall semester. If you're in the area, I invite you to have a look.

A Beginning

Tonight, I decided to try out a theme I've had in mind lately, closed storefronts, and got fantastic results.

This is unrelated to the theme, but I think it's an excellent picture worth posting:
