Industrial Zones, Ciritque II

These are 7 of the 8 images I presented for last critique on October 12, 2010. Originally I only had 5 pictures prepared, but that didn't feel sufficient considering the number of images I had for last critique. So I went into the lab on the day before critique with the rolls of film I shot the weekend before. As it turned out, the paper developer was stale and it was difficult to get any good tonal range, and as a result I spent the day making 3 images that I wasn't all that happy about.

But alas, the original 5 images I made I consider to be very good & I believe that these pictures are a sufficient inclusion to the project.

I have since revised both this and the previous post with higher-quality scans.

Industrial Zones

This semester I decided to refocus on the project Industrial Zones for photography class. I debuted the project last critique with 14 images, 12 of which are presented on this site. I'm very happy with these images and I feel it's an excellent start to the continuation of this project.

Most of these images were taken between September 10th and 12th, and all were taken in the industrial areas of Hialeah.

Parks in Hialeah

As summer has been set in, I've been neglecting to tend to more and more important things. My concussion is becoming less of an excuse for my slack as I recover more every day. It's gotten to the point now where even my prints and digital images, along with nearly everything else around the house, is in grave disorder. Since I haven't been scanning my prints diligently after every critique, or have been uploading my summer digital images to the computer, this site has been sorely lacking new photographs.
Tonight I took the time to scan most of the prints I made for last semester's project, Parks in Hialeah. I took the images between January and April of this year. This project proved to be frustrating, trying, limiting, and even somewhat unavailing. Oriental recently changed the look of their papers, and working with it was a nightmare. I switched to Ilford mid-semester but they seemed to have changed their recipe for the worse as well. Along with all this, simply getting good pictures at times seemed near impossible. Many a time throughout the semester I was at wit's end.
I'm always my own devilishly worst critic at the time I'm working on any project. And with the technical hurtles I was dealing with on top of that, the whole thing seemed like a train wreck. Fortunately, looking back, I like most of the images I took. Do enjoy them.

Finding Worship

Through an incredible stroke of luck, I found all of the prints I made in Spring of 2009 while working on the project Places of Worship. They were missing for a year and two months and I had lost all hope of finding them. During the other day's trip to the lab, however, I found them sitting in a basket in one of my critique folders.

Here are the scans I've made of them so far. More to come.
These images were taken and printed between January and April 2009.

(This is a badly made work print, but I like the image so I'm posting it anyway.)

Damaged Goods

This is a micro-project that I started some years ago that I have never taken satisfactory images for except these two. Despite their age and the brevity of the project, I thought it would be a sin not to post them.
